All some people know about networking is that it is a medium that connects you to the outside world (i.e. a place that you cannot get to) but on the real fact, networking is more than this. The only person that can enjoy the full power of networking are those that know what it is capable of offering. As far as this is concern, it varies from one range to another. A lot of things that one cannot imagine is possible in a place where networking exists and it is only available for those that can find their way in such a situation. Some of the importance of networking is explained below.
Data Sharing
In a situation whereby systems are networked together (be it wireless, LAN or broadband) data that are to be sent from one person to another can shared from one the system where the other user can easily accessed this data. On a normal day, data that are to be copied and form system to another are easily shared when it comes to networking and this has made it very easy for the user of the system in that particular network to access that particular data.
Hardware Sharing
Also in a networked environment, it is possible for hardwares to be shared. Mostly shared of these hardwares is that CD/DVD drive. If for example, someone needs to do a very important installation and the drive that the person was to use if suddenly faulty, the presence of networking will make it very easy for such person to make use of another drive as long as that drive is on the same network with the system that is to make use of it. This can be possible because the other drive in that same network group is also shared. Other type of hardware such as the hard disk, flash drive etc. can also be shared on the same network which will give the users of this network to either save on them or copy one thing or the other from such drives.
Other things that can be shared on the network include software which can either be an installed copy or the yet to be installed one. Before this software can shared, permission must first be given by the owner of the system where the software to be shared is stored and if that permission is not in place, it will be impossible for the software to be accessed by another user on the same network.
COMMUNICATION also is another advantage of the network. This is made possible by the use of internet service within a given network (it can also be from another network). E-mails sent, pictures sent, etc. are example of communication in a network environment because all this items sent delivers one message or the other.
NOTE* One major thing to be put into consideration as long as sharing on the network is concern is the aspect of how the sharing can be made possible. Apart from the communication on the network, other things to be shared must first be permitted by the network administrator which means if this not done, the sharing that is to be possible on a particular network will never be.
